High Level Co-ordination Meeting of Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police Personnel Held


Shri G.N. Asthana, General Manager, South Central Railway chaired a high level co-ordination meeting today (19th March, 2012) attended by the Chiefs of Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) having jurisdictionsover South Central Railway.
Shri J.N. Jagan Nath, Additional General Manager, Several Principal Heads of Department of South Central Railway and Chiefs of RPF Viz., Shri B. Mohan, Inspector General & Chief Security Commissioner, South Central Railway, Shri S.K. Mishra, Inspector General & Chief Security Commissioner, East Coast Railway, Bhubaneswar and Divisional Security Commissioners from Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Nanded, Vijayawada, Guntur and Guntakal Division of SC Rly. participated in the meeting.
Chiefs of Government Railway Police, Viz., Shri V.S.K. Koumudi, IPS Addl. Director General of Police (Railways), AP,Shri R. Shekar, IPS, Addl. Director General of Police (Railways) Tamil Nadu, Shri K.A. Hafeez, Addl. Director General of Police (Railways), Karnataka and Superintendents of Railway Police from Secunderabad, Guntakal, Nagpur and Hubli attended.
Shri G.N. Asthana, General Manager, South Central Railway, in his address, reiterated the need for havingfrequent coordination meetings of RPF and GRP officials to ensure enhanced security to passengers, freight, railway assets and railway operations. The General Manager told the RPF and GRP officials to adopt innovative measures and share their experience / intelligence to tackle the crimes in trains and railway premises.
Shri B. Mohan, Inspector General & Chief Security Commissioner, South Central Railway, narrated the efforts of RPF to protect railway properties and bring down crimes against passengers through a Power Point Presentation. Similarly, Shri Shri V.S.K. Koumudi, IPS, Addl. Director General of Police (Railways), AP,in his Power Pont Presentation, explained various crime control measures against theft, robbery and dacoity in trains.
The meeting discussed the areas where more co-ordination between RPF and GRP officials is required such as registering a complaint,joint escorting of vulnerable express trains, joint patrolling of sabotage prone areas, combined training course to RPF & GRP personnel, strengthening the GRP set up in Railway stations etc. Matter such as expansion of integrated Security System, opening of help line phones, baggage tags, maintaining the antecedence of contract staff working in the trains, stern action against eve-teasing against women in the MMTS trains, construction of fencing at areas prone to trespassing were alsodiscussed in the meeting
